Light has no mass so it also has no energy according to Einstein, but how can sunlight warm the earth without energy? Light indeed carries energy via its momentum despite having no mass.

What is particle physics mass?

Mass is an important concept in classical mechanics, which regards a particle as a corpuscular object. Instead, mass is basically a measure of the particle energy. The relations between energy and mass can be directly derived based on the wave properties of the particle.

Do wave functions have mass?
